They received FDA approval for breast augmentation in September 2024 after a multi-year clinical study process, and the FDA continues to monitor all approved breast implants through post-market surveillance. Some patients confuse Motiva with a 2019 recall of certain macrotextured implants from a different manufacturer, which used a different surface technology than Motiva’s SmoothSilk® design.
